Manual mobilisation of the coccyx

I just watched a video on YouTube, in Spanish, of a therapist, doing coccyx manipulation through the clothes.

I am interested in coccyx manipulation. Mainly as, because it is a process that is not very appealing for a therapist, and it is not great to have done as a patient: probably often gets missed. This leaves an unfortunate sub group of patients who have a mechanical dysfunction of the coccyx: but are unable to find a therapist who deals with this area.

Don't get me wrong: it is my least favourite body part to treat. It's ethically difficult ground.

But : it seems wrong to leave people in pain for years, when we are experts in manipulation of the rest if the body, to eliminate pain,  simply because its am awkward and undesirable area of the body to treat.

  2. I can see why that would be hard, but it's an area of physiotherapy that we need. I'm glad you're willing to put up with the problems that it can cause.

  6. I am wheelchair bound and need to find the best exercises that help me un-kink my back on occasion. I feel like I am not able to do this for myself. My dad made the observation that I might need the physical manipulation of another person to be able to help me bend and stretch to gain the best exercise outcome.

  7. When I read this, it reminds me of when I dislocated my shoulder. It is so painful, but therapy can really help restore a lot of the strength and range of motion that you lost. This is a great overview of what therapy can do for your injury.

  12. Holy moly Jimmy! I was looking for additional info on this subject. I'm case managing an American paratrooper whose had too many traumatic parachute landing falls with heavy combat loads. He says when he sits, he feels like he is sitting on glass. Incredibly helpful information. Hopefully we can get this young man back up to speed. Thank you so much!
